JOIN us for a Public Sea Turtle Release Saturday, December 28th at Sombrero Beach in Marathon. Bring your family and friends! Jack-O-Lantern, a 150 pound loggerhead sea turtle was rescued by Florida Fish and Wildlife on, you guessed it, Halloween where he was found floating and entangled in trap line. Jack-O-Lantern was treated at the Turtle Hospital for entanglement injuries and a severe intestinal impaction. Treatment included broad spectrum antibiotics, IV nutrition, class 4 laser therapy, physical therapy, mineral oil, vitamins, and a healthy diet of squid and fish. Jack-O-Lantern is healthy and ready to return to the sea! Jack-O-Lantern will arrive in the turtle ambulance at 9:30 a.m., with release promptly at 10:00 a.m. See you there!
