Public Sea Turtle Release

Izsak Released

Izsak was rescued in early April by FWC officers Jill Izsak and Anders Bergstrom. The adult male Loggerhead sea turtle was entangled in a lobster trap line that severely damaged the left rear flipper. Dr. Doug Mader (Marathon Veterinarian Hospital) amputated the flipper. Izsak recovered remarkably well with the wound quickly healing and no infection. After less than two months of rehabilitation he was ready to go.

The release was done from Coco Plum Beach and the public was invited to wish him well. Turtle Hospital staff and Officer Bergstrom transport the 200 pound turtle into the water.
