Argus, a juvenile sea turtle will be released to the wild; fitted with a satellite transmitter as part of Tour de Turtles 2017! You will be able to follow Argus’s track online! Argus was rescued in Jule 2016, 3 miles north of the 7 Mile Bridge in Marathon. She was found with a trap line and buoy entangled around her rear flipper. Argus’s body and eyes were covered in Fibropapilloma tumors. Her treatment included two tumor removal surgeries, broad spectrum antibiotics, anti-parasitic medications, vitamins, and a healthy diet of squid and greens. Argus is strong and tumor free! Argus will be fitted with a small transmitter on Friday morning before heading to Sombrero Beach. Argus will arrive at the beach in the turtle ambulance at 9:30 am and will be returned to her ocean home at 10 am. Please bring your family and friends and join in the fun of Argus’s journey back to the sea! After Argus’s release, you can track her route online at www.tourdeturtles.org.
