School Groups

Let our educators take the lead and guide your students through an educational adventure of The Turtle Hospital. This 90 minute program will teach students about this endangered species and how the organization is helping to rescue, rehab, and release sea turtles here in the Florida Keys.

What to expect:

Starting in our education room, students will sit for a short presentation that will help teach them about the current patients and resident sea turtles they will soon meet. A walkthrough of our hospital, where they may witness the rehab/veterinary staff care for sick or injured sea turtles. Then heading outside to view our current patients and resident sea turtles, learning about their unique rescue stories.

Topics covered will include: 

  • Sea Turtle Identification
  • Species life cycle, diet, habitat, predators, and both environmental and human dangers.
  • Ways to help in conservation and environmental protections.
  • How The Turtle Hospital cares and rehabilitates patients arriving to the facility.

How to request a school group:

Please see the below list of items we will need to help you plan your request for a school group.

  • Name of School/Organization
  • Lead Teacher/Staff member for point of contact for day of.
  • Email and Phone Number
  • Age of students and group quantity(*Program admission is based on age*)
  • Chaperones must be present to help in the safety and organization of your group.
  • Day(s) and time(s) you would like to attend. (scheduling is based on availability)
  • Waivers: Anyone 18 years or older will have to complete a waiver. Those under the age of 18 will need an attending chaperone to list them on their waiver as a minor.
