Join us this Saturday, December 24th at 9:30 am as we release Casper!

Casper, a sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle is going home for the holidays!  Join us for a Public Sea Turtle Release this Saturday, December 24th on Sombrero Beach in Marathon.  Casper was rescued in October off of Marathon on the bayside.  A local family, the Sipes, spent hours on a Friday night assisting with Casper’s rescue at sea.  Casper had a severe intestinal impaction and low blood values.  Treatment at the Turtle Hospital included broad spectrum antibiotics, lactulose, vitamins and a healthy diet.  Casper is now healthy and ready to return to her ocean home.  The Turtle Hospital ambulance will arrive with Casper at Sombrero Beach at 9:30 a.m. with release promptly at 10:00 a.m.  Bring your family and your friends to help us celebrate Casper’s return to sea!
