The Turtle Hospital is excited to announce a public sea turtle release scheduled for Saturday, August 29th at 9:30 a.m.
Please join us on Sombrero Beach in Marathon as we cheer on Didi, a sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle. Didi was found floating between Boot Key bridge and Burdines in July. X-rays revealed Didi was suffering from an intestinal impaction. Treatment at the Turtle Hospital consisted of broad spectrum antibiotics, lactulose, beano, vitamins, and a diet of fish and squid. Didi passed her impaction and is now healthy and ready to return to her ocean home. Didi will arrive in the turtle ambulance at Sombrero Beach at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday for a 10:00 a.m. release.
