- 7/30/2025 Meet Ricardo! a juvenile green sea turtle who came to us after suffering a devastating boat strike to his head and carapace. With help from Islamorada’s fire rescue, he was kept safe until out team could arrive and get him emergency care he needed. A CT scan revealed a fractured skull, but thankfully the impact missed his brain casing. Today, Ricardo received wound care treatment and, while he remains in critical condition, we’re encouraged that his blood levels have stabilized. Because of his skull fracture, Ricardo will remain dry docked in our ICU while we closely monitor him and give his body the best chance to heal.
