Status Report
- 8/6/2025 – Meet BLT! a juvenile green sea turtle that was rescued off of Key Largo where he was found lethargic and with light fibropapilloma (FP) tumor load. we suspect BLT may have neurological challenges from biotoxin. Treatment for BLT includes IV nutrition, fluid, antibiotics and a healthy diet of greens and mixed sea food. Blt’s Blood plasma was collected and sent to a lab to test for biotoxins.
- 10/21/2025- BLT will be receiving a CT scan soon!
- 20/24/2025 – 10/24/2025 – BLT and two other fellow juvenile green sea turtle patients traveled to Pinecrest Veterinary Hospital, where Dr. Lorraine Karpinski performed her successful eye tumor removal surgeries. All three turtles recovered well, now have healthy eyes, and ere officially tumor free!!! Post operative care includes chemotherapy eye drops administered at The Turtle Hospital.
- 11/15/2025 – BLT is has had no regrowth and is still tumor free and healing well from his eye tumor removal surgery.
