Come to Bahia Honda State Park (NorthBeach) this Sunday, March 18, 2012 to see Sport’s release at 10:00 a.m. Sport, a sub-adult loggerhead was yet another turtle to become entangled in lobster trap line. On January 23rd the commercial fisherman brought Sport back to land where they met up with Florida Wildlife Commission for transport to the Turtle Hospital in Marathon. Sport had to undergo surgery for an amputation of the right rear leg. He was on antibiotics to prevent infection, swims wonderfully, and is now ready to go back to his ocean home.
