Public Sea Turtle Release

Sparky

Sparky a large 218-lb male Loggerhead sea turtle was rescued by good Samaritans in Key Largo on December 18th.  Sparky suffers from a recent propeller wound to the back of his carapace (shell) and appears to have a slight impaction.  Although the wound is healing nicely, Sparky is being treated with antibiotics to rid him of any possible infection and the wound is being treated with honey to help the healing process. Vegetable oil  is added to his squid breakfast everyday to help him pass any impaction that may be present.
