Snoop is a Kemp’s Ridley sea turtle. The Kemp’s Ridley is the rarest of the sea turtles. Found almost exclusively in the Gulf of Mexico, the Kemp’s is one of the rarest animals in the world. Snoop was rescued by Capt. Barrie McCune off Islamorada, Florida on October 7, 2006. Her right front flipper was caught in a lobster buoy line and she had fishing line wrapped around her flippers and head. She also had one fibropapilloma tumor on her left front flipper. She has had surgery to remove the tumor and another to amputate the flipper that was caught in the buoy line. She is currently recuperating in the main tank and will be ready for release soon!
