Public Sea Turtle Release

“Saddle” Rides the Big, Open Blue

An impressive crowd gathered to wave goodbye as Saddle sprinted out to sea.  This sub-adult loggerhead was released at Bahia Honda State Park surrounded by Turtle Hospital staff, tourists, Keys residents, local politicians and a camera crew.  Rehab staff polled each other on what Saddle would do first upon release and all came to the same conclusion: he’d find food.  Saddle was a feisty loggerhead, living true to the name with an impressive mouth size and appetite.  With a quick and full recovery, we were excited to send him home!
