Outreach Programs

Conservation education is a foundation of our organization. Participating in both local community events, to providing in classroom lessons for students of all ages. Inspiring the public to help in the protection of this unique species.

What to expect:

Arriving in The Turtle Hospital ambulance, educators will teach your students a tailored lesson plan unique to each age group. Featuring hands on projects, a short presentation, and information for continued learning both in the classroom and at home. Outreach programs run 30 – 45 minutes, based on age of students to maintain engagement.

Topics covered will include: 

  • Sea Turtle Identification
  • Species life cycle, diet, habitat, predators, and both environmental and human dangers.
  • Ways to help in conservation and environmental protections.

Virtual Classroom

Dive into the world of sea turtle rehabilitation with a virtual program. Our educators will bring our hospital and patients to your students without ever leaving your classroom.

What to expect:

With the use of Zoom or Google Meet, a virtual educator will provide a tailored program unique to your students age group. Featuring a short presentation, followed by a walk through of our current patients and resident sea turtles. Students will also have the chance to ask real time questions with our educators. Virtual programs run 30 – 45 minutes. For students younger in age we recommend the 30 minute program to maintain engagement.

Topics covered will include:

  • Sea turtle identification
  • Species diet, habitat, and fun facts.
  • Common injuries and problems sea turtles present for at The Turtle Hospital.
  • Information on how students like yours can help in everyday ways to protect marine life.
