A great rescue was made Friday evening by Islamorada residents Jaye and Gary! The couple spotted a small turtle in distress in the canal behind their home and were especially worried due to the large crocodile that appeared to be eyeing the turtle up for a snack! Jaye was able to boat over and safely get the lethargic and floating turtle to land.
“Nicky” is a post hatchling Hawksbill and appears to have several foreign objects in his intestines. With lactulose, a healthy diet, and medicine, we hope to have Nicky back on his flippers in no time!
