Public Sea Turtle Release

Public Sea Turtle Release Just in Time for Mother’s Day!

Judy, a sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle will be returned to her ocean home on Saturday, May 12th at 10:00 a.m. Judy was found entangled in trap line just south of Little Palm Island in early February. Marathon Coast Guard helped with the rescue and transported Judy to shore where she was picked up in the Turtle Hospital ambulance. Judy’s treatment at the Turtle Hospital included amputation of her rear flipper, broad spectrum antibiotics, vitamins, and a healthy diet of fish and squid. Judy is fully recovered, swimming strong and ready to go home! Please bring your Mom and friends and join us to celebrate Judy’s return to the ocean on Saturday at Sombrero Beach, Marathon. The turtle ambulance will arrive at the beach at 9:30 a.m. with release promptly at 10:00 a.m. See you there!
