This juvenile Kemp’s ridley sea turtle is currently being treated for complications related to cold-stunning, including osteomyelitis, a serious bone infection that cand develop when a turtle’s immune system is weakened by prolonged exposure to cold water. During her exam, kalimba received class IV laser therapy, a noninvasive treatment used to reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and support tissue healing – all critical components in helping her fight infection and regain strength!
  • 06/17/2026 Kalimba received targeted treatment today for osteomyelitis, a deep bone infection affecting her shoulder. As part of her ongoing care, she underwent class IV laser therapy, which helps reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and support healing in compromised tissue. She also reached an exciting milestone – graduation to our 30,000-gallon rehabilitation tank! watching her swim confidently through her new space and eagerly enjoy fresh squid had our team feeling encouraged.
