The Turtle Hospital is excited to announce a public sea turtle release on Sunday, March 25th at 10:30 AM. Join us on the beach at Founders Park, MM 87 Bayside, 87000 Overseas Highway, Islamorada as we cheer on Sully, a loggerhead turtle. Sully was rescued off of Islamorada in the Florida Bay last December where she was found floating and struggling to dive. Sully was suffering from an impaction. When a turtle has an impaction, an infection is growing in their intestinal tract. That infection releases CO2 gas which compromises the turtle’s bouyancy and causes the turtle to float. She was treated with antibiotics, and our miracle drugs: lactulose, metamucil, and beano to help alleviate her impaction. Sully is now fully recovered and diving well. She can’t wait to go back to her ocean home!
