Starburst, a very lucky sub-adult Loggerhead Sea Turtle was rescued by Diana Tomasi near Key Largo in July of 2005. Starburst had survived a critical boat strike to his head and shell. After several months of packing the head injury with sugar and tube feeding, Starburst began to show signs of healing. Once his interest in food returned, Starburst wanted to eat everything in sight. Below is a picture of his scar (looking down at the top of his head).
RELEASED: Starburst was returned to the wild along with six other Loggerheads on October 25, 2005 off Pigeon Key, Florida.
