Public Sea Turtle Release

Boyscouts Send Kruck Home

Kruck, a 46 pound green sea turtle was found floating by the Boy Scouts of Marathon at Hens & Chickens Reef. Kruck had three healed propeller wounds across the top of his shell with one going in opposite direction of the other two; poor Kruck had been hit by at least two different boats. Aside from his inability to dive down for food, Kruck was robust and relatively healthy. The Boy Scouts found him just in time. Within a month Kruck was off medication, passing his food regularly and displaying a healthy appetite for his squid. We coordinated a release with Capt. Scott Costa of BSA Adventure who took the Boy Scouts out to Alligator Reef on June 30.
